About this Event
Meet Yleana's Co-Founder and Executive Director, Alyssa - and learn about Yleana's vision for transforming the racial wealth gap by providing opportunities for wealth accumulation. While the graduation rate for low-SES, first-gen college students in the United States is 11-12%, Yleana's college graduation rate is 80% - meaning that we MULTIPLY THE COLLEGE GRADUATION RATE BY 8.
Yleana believes that educational opportunity is the key to socioeconomic mobility - which means that if we make strategic, intentional decisions during the college process, we can change students' financial outcomes and opportunities after college.
We start working with students between their junior and senior year of high school and follow them through college and into careers through a series of mentoring programs. Besides mentoring, we provide that most important facet - once you're part of the Yleana family, you're family forever.
At Yleana, "family forever" can mean anything from supporting students/families experiencing homelessness to appearing as character witnesses at court hearings to helping students advocate for more financial aid - or helping students get rid of mice in their pantries. The Yleana family is family forever.
Come join us and be part of the change!
