About this Event

The Bright Sword by Lev Grossman:

"The Bright Sword" is a reimagining of the Arthurian legend by Lev Grossman, the bestselling author of the Magicians trilogy. The story is set in a desolate Camelot after the Battle of Camlann, where King Arthur has fallen, and the once-mighty Round Table is reduced to a handful of misfits: Sir Palomides, Sir Dagonet, and Nimue, Merlin's former apprentice.

Britain is vulnerable to dark forces as divine favor has vanished. Morgan le Fay and ancient deities rise, threatening to plunge the world into darkness. To save their fractured land, this ragtag band of knights must embark on a quest to reclaim Excalibur, the legendary sword. The journey is fraught with peril and mysticism as they unravel the mystery behind King Arthur's tragic demise.

"The Bright Sword" is a gripping tale of broken heroes striving to rebuild a shattered Camelot, where every step is a battle against destiny, and redemption is their only hope. It captures the struggle, pain, and enduring strength of those determined to forge a new legend in a world teetering on the brink of chaos.

Navola by Paolo Bacigalupi:

Navola is a city built on trade and wealth, dominated by the powerful Regulai bank, controlled by the Regulai family through cunning and financial power. Young Davico di Regulai is destined to inherit this empire, but he is ill-suited for the ruthless demands of leadership, with a soft heart and a trusting nature.

In the shadows of Navola, enemies plot the Regulai's downfall. Assassins sharpen their knives in the catacombs, and armies gather on the Cerulean Peninsula, ready to strike. Davico's only hope lies in a girl whose family the Regulai destroyed and a mysterious crystalline orb said to be the eye of a long-dead dragon.

As danger closes in from all sides, Davico must find the strength to navigate treachery and either embrace his destiny or carve a new path. In this city where power rules and danger lurks in every shadow, the fate of Navola hangs in the balance.
