'Sountrack Of Our Lives' series presents AN EVENING WITH JIMMY WEBB, with special guest ALISAN PORTER (The Voice)! Only at Palm Springs Cultural Center in Palm Springs, CA. Join us...
LIVE! Fri, January 24th at 7:00PM. VIP Lounge opens at 5:30pm.
Jimmy Webb, America’s Songwriter, has written songs that transcend generations and genres – think “Wichita Lineman,” “MacArthur Park,” “By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” and “Didn’t We.” This Motown-trained composer writes all of his own lyrics and music and is the only hitmaker to have scored songs on the Pop, Country, R&B, Rap, Disco and New Age charts.
During this Evening with Jimmy Webb, audiences will hear this multi-Grammy Award winner’s songs and experience his insightful and often humorous stories about his work with Glen Campbell, Frank Sinatra, Linda Ronstadt (“Still Within the Sound of My Voice”), Art Garfunkel (“All I Know”), The Fifth Dimension (“Up, Up and Away”), The Highwaymen (“The Highwayman”), Kanye West (“Famous” features Webb’s “Do What You Gotta Do”), and more.
Jimmy Webb is the author of the memoir, The Cake and the Rain, and the “bible” of songwriting, Tunesmith: The Art of Songwriting.
In 2019 Webb released a piano-only CD, SlipCover, featuring some of his favorite songs from his contemporaries; Billy Joel, Paul Simon, The Rolling Stones and more.
Currently, “MacArthur Park,” written in 1967 by Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Jimmy Webb, is featured in the climactic wedding scene moment in the blockbuster horror-comedy film, "Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice". Beetlejuice (Keaton) gets main character Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) to the altar. She reluctantly agrees to marry him to save her daughter, Astrid Deetz’s (Jenna Ortega) life. A huge cake topped with slimy green icing is rolled out and then … cue “MacArthur Park!’ “MacArthur’s Park is melting in the dark / All the sweet, green icing flowing down,” sings Harris as maniacal fun ensues with the possessed wedding guests dancing around the cake with oozing icing, taking turns lip-syncing to the entire song.

With guest opener, Winner of NBC's The Voice, singer and songwriter ALISAN PORTER.
A powerhouse siren with impressive writing chops to match her towering vocals, it is no surprise Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter Alisan Porter could sing with perfect pitch at nine-months-old.

This LA-based singer and songwriter born to a Broadway star Mom and Rocker Dad, wowed American audiences on Star Search at the age of five singing "Over the Rainbow", has performed on Broadway in "A Chorus Line", and went on to starring roles in Television and Film; including the John Hughes 1991 classic "Curly Sue".
Alisan triumphantly won Season 10 of NBC's The Voice making her the first victor for coach Grammy Award-winner Christina Aguilera!

Her previous independent EP's "I Come in Pieces" and "Pink Cloud" were released to critical praise. Her newest musical offering entitled “The Ride” is now available on iTunes, Amazon & Spotify.

“… A night with Jimmy at the keys is not unlike getting to hear George Gershwin or Cole Porter live. It’s hard to believe one guy could have written all these amazing songs…if you get a chance to see him live, grab it...” – Paul Zolo, American Songwriter Magazine
