About this Event
Get ready for an unforgettable night of roots music, storytelling, and soul — as Jake LaBotz, acclaimed blues singer-songwriter, actor, and Pushcart Prize-nominated author, launches his North American Tattoo Across The Globe Tour right here at White Lilac!
From the gritty streets of Chicago to stages across Europe and the U.S., LaBotz has crafted a unique style of “Gospel-noir” roots music, shaped by early tutelage under legendary pre-war bluesmen like Honeyboy Edwards, Homesick James and Maxwell Street Jimmy Davis.
Just back from touring Europe and Germany with his band, where crowds soaked up his raw, evocative originals, Jake now brings his magnetic presence to Kenosha — launching what promises to be a thrilling cross-continent journey.
Praise for Jake LaBotz:
“From the first time I heard him playing guitar and singing his songs… I became a devoted fan.” — Steve Buscemi
“Jake LaBotz turns paranoia into a haunting, Tom Waits-worthy piece of cabaret Americana…” — Rolling Stone
Beyond music, Jake’s literary work is gaining serious attention — his short fiction has appeared in magazines such as The Inquisitive Eater, Exacting Clam, Mikrokosmos/Mojo Journal, and The Museum of Americana. His work has been shortlisted for the J.F. Powers Prize and nominated for a Pushcart Prize. A debut collection of his short fiction is forthcoming from the University of Wisconsin’s Cornerstone Press, and a graphic memoir collaboration is in the works.
Why this show is a must-see:
• Gritty, deeply soulful roots and blues
• Stories soaked in life on the road
• A performer equally fluent in song, word, and world-weary wisdom
• A tour launch like no other — part music show, part storytelling ritual
This isn’t just a concert — it’s an evening with a true American original. Come witness Jake LaBotz kick off a major tour with songs, stories, and spirit.
