An Evening with Henhouse Prowlers – We Are All Just Human Beings Tour

For more than 20 years, the Henhouse Prowlers have been building something rare, music rooted in bluegrass tradition, shaped by global experience, and driven by a deep belief in connection.

This Chicago-based quartet; Ben Wright (banjo, vocals), Chris Dollar (guitar, vocals), Jon Goldfine (bass, vocals), and Jake Howard (mandolin, vocals), has taken their sound far beyond its origins, touring 34 countries across five continents. Along the way, they’ve gathered stories, sounds, and perspectives that now live inside their songs.

Their latest album, Unravel, produced by Stephen Mougin (Sam Bush Band), reflects that journey. You’ll hear echoes of classic bluegrass and country alongside modern Americana, all tied together by their signature four-part harmonies and high-level musicianship. The songs explore life on the road, time passing, loss, and joy, always grounded in lived experience.

But what truly sets the Prowlers apart is the live show.

On stage, their chemistry is immediate and unmistakable. Expect tight picking, powerful harmonies, and stories drawn from years of travel, plus the occasional surprise, like a bluegrass take on an international tune they picked up somewhere along the way.

Beyond performance, the band’s mission runs deep. Through their nonprofit, Bluegrass Ambassadors, and work with the U.S. State Department, they use music as a tool for cultural exchange, sharing a simple but powerful idea: we have more in common than we don’t.
