Join International Spy Museum Executive Director Chris Costa in conversation with General (Ret.) Stanley McChrystal, former commander of the International Security Assistance Forces in Afghanistan. McChrystal has recently written On Character: Choices that Define a Life. The book is the culmination of the General’s deep reflection on living true to one’s ideals as he looks back upon a compelling and sometimes tumultuous military career.Costa, a past special assistant to the President and Senior Director for Counterterrorism on the National Security Council during the Trump administration, and McChrystal will discuss the General’s distinguished career of service and his takeaways. After thirty-four years of service in the US Army, McChrystal retired as a four-star general. Before he was commander in Afghanistan, he previously served as commander of the nation’s premier counterterrorism force, the Joint Special Operations Command. Costa and McChrystal will explore the times in the General’s military career that significantly shaped his understanding of character and how he feels we can all build character. McChrystal is also the author of My Share of the Task, Team of Teams, Leaders, and Risk. He and Costa will also dive into leadership themes and recommendations that McChrystal has embodied and shared in these books. Following their conversation, the audience will have a chance to ask their own questions.
