£14 + Booking Fee. Doors 7pm. Show 8pm.
With his usual good humour, renowned broadcaster and explorer Benedict Allen tells the real story of how he caused headlines around the world when he disappeared in PNG - and other highs and lows of his adventurous life over the years.
Benedict Allen is an explorer best known for his hazardous expeditions through the jungle, desert and Arctic - journeys achieved not with companions, phone, GPS or any of the usual “backup” but after months training with a remote indigenous community. These and other ventures are depicted in his ten books - including two best sellers - and numerous television series. Few people alive have spent so long isolated and alone in so many different potentially hostile environments.
He is one of only two people alive included in the Daily Telegraph's gallery of Great British Explorers (the other being Ranulph Fiennes). He is a former member of Council and Trustee of the Royal Geographical Society, Patron of the Environmental Justice Foundation, The Tony Foundation and Save the Rhino Trust.
Benedict will be signing copies of his new book, Explorer: The Quest for Adventure and the Great Unknown. Sales on the evening provided by Farsley's Truman Books.
