About this Event
Amidst the beautiful surroundings of St Margaret’s Church, Bendor Grosvenor will illustrate how the iconic fabric of Westminster Abbey has been shaped by artists and artistic styles from across the world. From the French inspired ‘Gothic’ architecture to the Italian inspired Cosmati pavement, hear how the international influences present in Westminster Abbey mirror what happened within the history of British art.
Discover how the Abbey has inspired artists since the Middle Ages through exploring iconic pieces of British art like the Wilton Diptych and Holbein's Ambassadors.
Copies of The Invention of British Art will be available for purchase at the end of the talk.
