Discover the story behind Birds of America and its controversial creator, John James Audubon.
This event features a talk (followed by questions and discussion) plus the opportunity to view a rarely seen second volume and more from our special collections.
Birds of America was recently featured in Mackenzie Crook’s BBC drama, Small Prophets. Liverpool Central Library is home to an exceptionally rare, complete, four-volume set of John James Audubon’s work. The true story behind these volumes is more unexpected than previously imagined.
The talk will take place from 6-7pm; please choose whether you would like to view the second volume of Birds of America before the talk at 5:30pm or after the talk at 7pm.
Option 1: 5:30pm-7pm
5:30-6:00pm - Special Collections viewing, Archive Search Room (3rd floor).
6:00-7:00pm - Talk in the Hornby Library (1st floor).
