About this Event

An Evening of Remembrance, Reflection & Nourishment

A gentle, held space to honour loved ones and explore our relationship with death

Thursday 8th January 2026
7:00pm – 8:30pm
📍 Willsbridge Mill, Bristol
🎟 Limited spaces available – advance booking recommended

Join us for a calm, compassionate evening dedicated to remembrance, reflection, and connection. This gathering offers a supportive space to honour loved ones who have passed, explore feelings or fears around death, and sit alongside others in shared humanity.

This is not a counselling session or a support group, but a softly held space inspired by the Death Café ethos, where listening, witnessing, and open conversation are welcomed without judgement or expectation.

What to Expect

The evening will be gently guided and entirely invitational. You are welcome to share, to listen, to journal, or simply to be present.

The flow of the evening will include:

  • A warm welcome and setting of the space
  • A shared remembrance altar, where participants may place names or messages and light a candle in honour of loved ones
  • A short grounding to help everyone settle into the space
  • A guided meditation and sound bath, offering quiet support for emotional processing and reflection
  • Gentle journalling with optional prompts
  • Open sharing and discussion, supported by Death Café principles
  • Tea and nourishment to close the evening and allow gentle reconnection

Everything offered is optional. Silence is just as valued as speaking, and you are always free to step outside or take care of yourself in whatever way feels right.

Comfort & What to Bring

Yoga mats, blankets and tea will be provided to help you settle in comfortably.
You may also wish to bring a pillow and water, especially for the sound bath and meditation portion of the evening.

About the Facilitators

Mary is one of Bristol’s dedicated Death Café volunteers, with a rich background in community care and facilitation. She has worked as a nursery nurse, community project worker, and assistant manager within a day care setting, and is a qualified meditation and mindfulness teacher. Mary is also an instructor and trainer in Death Café facilitation, bringing warmth, experience, and deep respect to conversations around death, dying, loss, and the emotions we carry in relation to them.

Marie is a certified, trauma-informed sound therapist and meditation teacher, and the founder of The Goddess Haven. With a background in healthcare and community wellbeing, Marie specialises in creating safe, inclusive spaces using sound, meditation, and gentle ritual to support emotional processing, nervous system regulation, and embodied reflection.

Together, Mary and Marie offer a balanced container of conversation and stillness, words and quiet, remembrance and nourishment.

Trigger-Aware Notice

This gathering includes themes of death, dying, grief, loss, and remembrance, which may be emotionally activating for some people.

While the space is held with care and sensitivity, it is not a therapeutic or crisis support setting. Please consider your own wellbeing before booking. You are always welcome to step outside, take a break, or leave early if needed.

If you are currently experiencing acute grief, emotional distress, or feel that this topic may be overwhelming at this time, we gently encourage you to seek additional support alongside or instead of attending.
