About this Event
In collaboration with the Romanian Cultural Institute, we are delighted to welcome contemporary European author Tatiana Ţîbuleac here to Hatchards, for an evening of conversation with translator Monica Cure and publisher Will Evans.
Tatiana Ţîbuleac is one of Moldova’s most celebrated writers and a prominent voice in contemporary fiction. Her first novel “The Summer My Mother Had Green Eyes”, recently published in English by Deep Vellum, is a complex coming-of-age story unravelling the fragile, complicated, redemptive relationship between a mother and her son. She resides in Paris and her work has earned numerous honours, including the European Prize for Literature in 2019.
The book we are highlighting was translated by Monica Cure, a Romanian-American writer, translator, and poet, recognized internationally for her contributions to literature and translation and awarded the 2023 Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize.
The two will be joined by publisher and translator Will Evans, founder and CEO of Deep Vellum, one of the largest publishing houses for translated fiction in the United States.
