HEARTLAND THEATRE COMPANY opens AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE by Henrik Ibsen, adapted by Christopher HamptonHeartland Theatre Company opens AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, the classic by Henrik Ibsen, adapted by Christopher Hampton, on Thursday, November 6, with a Pay What You Can Opening Preview. The play runs through November 22 and is sponsored by Mayuko Nakamura and Terry Noel, and underwritten by Todd Garrison and Mark Webb.
Directed by Rhys Lovell, the play features over 15 actors for a two and a half-hour experience.
ABOUT THE PLAY: A scathing critique of democracy and the tyranny of the majority, An Enemy of the People explores the cost of integrity in a society that values consensus over truth. [General Audiences]
Performances: November 6,7,8 | 14,15,16 | 21,22* at 7:30 pm; Matinees on Sunday, November 16 (Panel Discussion after) and Saturday, November 22 at 2:00 pm. *There are two performances on November 22.
PANEL DISCUSSION “Politics and Morality: Can They Co-exist?” open to the public, after the Sunday, November 16 Matinee (approximately 4:30 pm) There will be a panel discussion with Cody Hendricks (who serves on the Bloomington City Council and teaches civics and economics), Sarah Hall (Assistant Professor and Academic Advisor at Illinois State University in the School of Communication) and Rhys Lovell, director of An Enemy of the People (Artistic Director at Heartland).
