Inspired by two texts from Ancient Egypt, (a writing tablet by the Priest of Heliopolis and an anonymous poem from the 12th Dynasty) this long poem will dramatise what happens to the heart when you are implicated in a crime against humanity. It will be performed by Alice Oswald with one musician.

Alice Oswald lives in Devon and has worked as a gardener and poet. She has a particular interest in oral and anonymous poetry and has published three anthologies and seven poetry collections, including Dart, Memorial, and Falling Awake. Among her distinctions are the Griffin Poetry Prize and the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry. From 2019 to 2023, she was the Oxford Professor in Poetry.

The Rendez-Vous de l’Institut Series is generously supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. You will find a full calendar of the Fellows’ Talks.
