Graham Parker emerged from England’s mid seventies pub rock scene with a fierce mix of rock & roll, new wave and soul, fronting the Rumour with a voice that could be tender one moment and withering the next.
Albums like Howlin’ Wind, Heat Treatment and Squeezing Out Sparks made him one of the sharpest songwriters of his generation – uncompromising, funny, furious and utterly alive.
A move to the USA brought a long-running solo career, a loyal cult following and a reputation as one of the most honest observers of modern life. Decades on, his songwriting remains razor-sharp and his perspective undimmed.
