Celebrating 10 years of the Osemanverse – from Solitaire to Heartstopper.
About this Event

Join us for what promises to be a brilliant afternoon with bestselling author-illustrator and Emmy-winning screenwriter Alice Oseman for an exclusive event at Conway Hall to celebrate the 10th anniversary edition of their debut novel Solitaire. Alice will be joined by actor Jenny Walserwho plays Tori Spring in the Netflix adaptation of Heartstopper.

Tickets £25 includes entry and a pre-signed 10th anniversary HB edition of Solitaire with sprayed edges and bonus content, plus an exclusive Solitaire print, or £15 general admission.

First published in 2014, when Alice was just nineteen years old, Solitaire is a searingly honest, brilliantly self-deprecating, and utterly compelling stand-alone YA coming-of-age story featuring the best-loved characters that inspired the Heartstopper graphic novel series which is now a major Netflix series.

Protagonist Tori Spring – Charlie’s older sister – is an instantly real and unapologetic teen that readers immediately identify with.

My name is Tori Spring. I like to sleep, and I like to blog. Last year – before all that stuff with Charlie and before I had to face the harsh realities of A-Levels and university applications and the fact that one day I really will have to start talking to people – I had friends. Things were very different, I guess, but that’s all over now.

Now there’s Solitaire. And Michael Holden.

I don’t know what Solitaire are trying to do, and I don’t care about Michael Holden.

I really don’t.

Alice Oseman was born in 1994 in Kent, England. She completed a degree in English at Durham University in 2016 and is currently a full-time writer and illustrator. Alice can usually be found staring aimlessly at computer screens, questioning the meaninglessness of existence, or doing anything and everything to avoid getting an office job. Alice's first book, Solitaire, was published when she was nineteen.

Jenny Walser is best known for playing the regular role of ‘Tori Spring’ in the hit Netflix series Heartstopper. Other screen credits include Call the Midwife, and she is currently filming a co-lead role in an upcoming series in Germany. Her stage credits include The Narcissist (Chichester); In My Heart the Ocean Swells (Vault Festival) and Kindertransport (Nottingham Playhouse). Jenny was also a member of the National Youth Theatre and studied Natural Sciences at Durham University.

Please note: There will not be a signing post event. However, Alice will pre-sign copies of Solitaire purchased as part of the Book & Ticket bundle. Tickets are non-transferable. Ticketholders must be present at the event to receive their signed copy of the book. If you are unable to attend, please contact [email protected]
