An Adult Evening of Storytelling with Jessica Willis & Friends featuring Jessica Willis, Kendal Turner and Tiffany Thomas.
In conjunction with the exhibition Jena Thomas: Acid Summer, 701 CCA will present an evening of storytelling with Jessica Willis and Friends with storytellers Jessica Willis, Kendall Turner and Tiffany Thomas. Come hear South Carolina women share their stories of pandemic pandemonium. Listen as they weave humor, pathos and the brilliance of humanity with their stories. The performers will paint the gallery with the depth, magnitude and sparkle of their words.
Jessica is a SC homegrown spoken word and visual artist with a big mouth and a bigger imagination. She builds dreams out of words, rhythm, recycled and re-purposed materials. Whether parading with a puppet or pulling your leg with a tall tale Jess is proud to share the magic of storytelling and the joy of creation with you.
“Kendal Turner is a spoken word artist, actor, educator, and mermaid from Columbia, SC. She found her love of writing at a young age and, when she discovered performance poetry, she knew she had found her home. When not writing or performing, Kendal spends her days teaching kiddos at EdVenture Children’s Museum, inspiring the next generation of awesome humans to be brave and use their voice!”

Tiffany Thomas is a native of Florence, South Carolina. She was raised on a farm and experienced the ups and downs of living a farm life. She incorporates her childhood into her storytelling and visual art by using bright colors, playfulness and the collage of memory. Her ceramic work focuses on an array of designs; from cups and mugs to light fixtures and table pieces. All of her pieces are hand carved. Tiffany graduated from Francis Marion University in 2012 with a degree in Visual Arts with concentrations in ceramics and painting.
