Rubber Chicken Theater has found God. And He’ll be taking on a very recognizable, very bald form.
An Act of God is a 90-minute comedy where God, in the form of Twin Ports theater veteran Brian Matuszak, reveals the mysteries of the Bible and answers some of the deepest questions that have plagued mankind since Creation, all while debuting a brand-new set of Ten Commandments to the people of Duluth. He is assisted by His devoted wingmen Gabriel (Chris Nollet) and Michael (Tate Haglund-Pagel). Julie Ahasay directs this irreverent production that tackles big questions about faith, humanity, and why it took 400,000 tries to create the perfect species of beetle. The show does contain the holiest of adult language and situations.
Rubber Chicken Theater’s prayers were answered when this heavenly quartet of Northland artists were assembled for An Act of God:
-Brian Matuszak returns to the stage after a 12-year hiatus from acting, his last role being in 2014 when he played the title role of That Scottish Guy in That Scottish Play for Wise Fool Theater. (OK, it was Macbeth.)
-Chris Nollet and Tate Haglund-Pagel are Rubber Chicken Theater veterans, taking on several silly roles in last December’s holiday comedy revue, including a couple of Singing, Dancing, Non-Disclosing Hermantown City Councilors.
-Julie Ahasay is a Twin Ports theatrical legend, acting and directing for every theater company in the Twin Ports, as well as being a founding member of the acclaimed Duluth comedy troupe Colder by the Lake.
