About this Event
A mesmerizing evening of music with the Patricia Brennan Trio, a boundary-defying ensemble known for its bold exploration of sound, rhythm, and texture. Led by renowned vibraphonist, marimbist, and composer Patricia Brennan, the trio brings together three adventurous improvisers who create immersive sonic landscapes that blur the lines between contemporary jazz, experimental music, and ambient minimalism.
With Kim Cass on bass and Noel Brennan on drums, this powerhouse group masterfully balances explosive interplay with moments of quiet introspection—offering a listening experience as daring as it is beautiful.
Born in Veracruz, Mexico, Patricia Brennan is recognized as one of the most innovative voices in contemporary percussion. Classically trained from a young age and shaped by a rich musical upbringing—ranging from salsa to classic rock—she has performed with major orchestras and collaborated with legends like Yo-Yo Ma and Paquito D’Rivera. Her journey led her to the Curtis Institute of Music and later into the world of improvisation, where she discovered her distinctive voice on vibraphone and mallet percussion.
Brennan’s critically acclaimed albums Maquishti (2021), More Touch (2022), and Breaking Stretch (2024) have placed her at the forefront of genre-bending jazz today. As a composer, performer, and educator (at Manhattan School of Music, The New School, and NYU), she continues to inspire with music that fuses tradition and innovation.
This concert is sponsored by Spanish beer Mahou, inviting you to stay after the performance to enjoy a cold beer, connect with the artists, and soak in the atmosphere of an extraordinary fall evening in our garden and auditorium.
