About this Event
As part of Amster Yard Sounds 2026—our live jazz series curated by acclaimed Spanish pianist Marta Sánchez—Lluís Capdevila and his trio will draw listeners into his signature introspective, lyrical style deeply connected to the Catalan musical tradition. Stay after the show for a reception with the artist!
Lluís Capdevila is a Catalan pianist and composer whose music bridges deep Mediterranean roots with a rich international jazz experience. Born in the wine-growing region of Priorat, his early, playful encounters with music eventually led him from a career in law to a full commitment to jazz, supported by studies and a Fulbright scholarship in New York. Immersed in the city’s vibrant jazz scene, Capdevila developed a highly personal voice—introspective, lyrical, and refined—reflected across a series of acclaimed projects ranging from trio and duo recordings to intimate solo piano works. His concerts draw from this broad artistic journey, weaving original compositions and reimagined traditions into a nuanced, expressive sound world where improvisation, memory, and place come together.
