About this Event

Join us for Amplifying Women's Voices on February 24th for a conversation about how storytelling transforms communication into relatable experiences that build trust and inspire action. Storytelling is a fundamental leadership skill that helps you motivate others, align your team with a sense of purpose, and drive positive change. Our incredible panel of female leaders includes:

Becky Barnhart, CEO of Integrus Architecture, is the firm's Higher Education Principal and designs for over twenty five Pacific Northwest campuses. Becky uses storytelling to lead her team in providing cutting-edge solutions. She currently serves as Chair of the Inland Northwest Architectural Foundation and the WSU Voiland College Executive Leadership Board. Becky was named a Journal of Business Top 25 People of Influence. Her favorite quote is “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples.” - Mother Teresa
Kate Hudson, Director of Public Relations for Visit Spokane, is on a mission to promote all things Spokane by hosting travel writers and pitching stories to national publications. She is the film liaison for Washington FilmWorks to woo production companies to use Spokane as a film backdrop. Kate serves as a Board Member for Friends of the Centennial Trail and on the Executive Committee of the Public Relations Society of America Travel & Tourism. Her favorite quote is "Ain't nothing wrong with silver", from Talladega Nights, because you don't have to win to be successful and compelling!
Dr. Melissa Mace, Executive Director of NAACP Spokane, is a dedicated social work professional, educator, and clinical leader specializing in trauma-focused care, behavioral therapy, and community engagement. She is committed to leading impactful initiatives and community collaboration, advancing mental health awareness, promoting diversity, and empowering individuals in their personal growth and resilience journeys. Melissa's favorite quote is "I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept." - Angela Davis
Yvonne Esquibel Smith, Director of Development & Community Engagement for Comma Community Journalism Lab, elevates voices and advances inclusive storytelling so our community can thrive. She is a respected community leader and accomplished executive who is deeply committed to civic engagement. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Numerica Credit Union and YWCA of Spokane. She co-founded the Empowering Women Upward Fund at EWU and was recognized by Leadership Spokane with the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award. Yvonne's favorite quote is "My mission in life is not to merely survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." - Maya Angelou
