Join us on Thursday 8th August, where we’ll hear from James Goggin - creative director, graphic designer, teacher and one half of Tāmaki Makaurau-based studio Practise with his wife and partner Shan James.
In recent work and writing, James has been thinking about portals. The way that architecture, design, music, film (among other fields) can operate as alternative education systems, opening up gateways between disciplines, people, and places. What can you can learn from reading a building, unpacking an album cover, or even studying an abstract shape? And where that can take you?
In addition to work from the Practise studio, James will share some inspirational objects and projects that have provided important portals for him as both designer and human being. He might even play some records too.
