BLUNT PRESENTS a night of all sorts with an eclectic pairing of Chanson Punk from Japan versus Live Punk Rock Karaoke from Sydney's inner west. First cab off the rank is Amita Hachidori & Kentaro Tamura. Onstage at 8pm this duo explores the realms of dark chanson cabaret like no other.
Amita is a professional chanson singer in Fishnet Bodystocking who skillfully blends traditional music from around the world with his unique interpretations of Japanese lyrics. In addition to his reimagined classics, he has a rich collection of original songs. He's a prolific performer, gracing the stages of live music venues, music festivals, and restaurants, often exceeding 200 performances in a year.
Kentaro Tamura (accordion) is a button accordion player. He
started playing the accordion in 2009, joining the Sapporo Scottish drunken band "Wakaba". While performing with Wakaba, he also started solo activities in the summer of 2013, switching from keyboard accordion to button accordion in the fall of 2014.
He is active in various genres, participating in various units centered on world music and original songs.
Ending off the night will be the fun fueled Live Punk Rock Karaoke, where you the audience get the chance to sing in front of a live backing band. Vent, rant, shout, sing or even chortle while Messrs Paul Hayward on guitar (Baddies, Majestic XI), Mark Crasti (Queen Anne's Revenge, Majestic XI) and Terrie Van See (Garry David and Beijing Bikini) have your back. A selection of songs will be passed around, and you choose what you want to do from the list. It's fun so dive in!
Doors from 730pm w/entertainment from 8-11pm. Tickets $15 at the door.
