The Camden County Historical Society and the City of Linn Creek are teaming up to present a Living History Week-end June 26-28, 2026 in the city of Linn Creek to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of our country. Plans include displays and demonstrations representing important events throughout the 250 years. Several prominent historians will be speaking during the week-end. Speakers, displays and hands-on activities are planned for all ages.
Friday will begin at noon with demonstrations of the handwork that was done by the ladies throughout history. In the evening there will be a demonstration of cooking over an open fire followed by a dinner open to the public for a donation.
Saturday morning the camps and displays will open at 9 am. There will be a short parade of participants beginning at 10 a.m. with the State Sons of the Revolutionary War Color Guard presenting a Flag Raising Ceremony at the Linn Creek City Hall and again in front of the Camden County Museum. Following this the displays and demonstrations will be open to the public through the morning and into the afternoon. History speakers will be presenting various topics throughout the day.
Civil War Re-enactors will present a small skirmish at 1:30 on the streets of Linn Creek replicating the attack on the city by Rebels in 1861.
Both Friday and Saturday the historic Linn Creek Methodist Church will be open for tours of the building. This church building has the Stained glass windows and the original peews and flooring from the original church building that once stood in the old town of Linn Creek.
Plans are for there to be an Old-Fashioned Barn Dance at the Camden County Museum on Saturday evening and a Brush Arbor Church Service on Sunday morning on the grounds of the Linn Creek Methodist Church.
Camps will begin to dismantle following the church service.
All-in-all this promises to be a fun-filled and educational week-end for families to enjoy.
