As part of the upcoming Semiquincentennial (250th) anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence, we are offering an "America 250 Genealogy" series to help you uncover your family's history. The series can be taken as a whole, or in individual sections. We will focus on different aspects of genealogy research and provide workshops where you can visit the museum to get help when and where needed. This series is in partnership with the Dakota County Historical Society, the Minnesota Genealogical Society, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Are you interested in doing research, but do not know what resources are available to you? Join organizations from around the Twin Cities Metro as they discuss what resources they have that can help you on your genealogy journey. Attendees will hear from multiple organizations as they each share how they can help you in your research and you will have a chance to ask them questions to get all of your questions asked. Presenters will share what is publicly available, as well as other items in their collection that might be of use despite not being in public spaces.
Participating in the Genealogy Resources Panel is four different organizations. The Dakota County Historical Society staff will share what is in their collection that can help you in your research, as well as point out the location for where some of this is located during the program. Jeanne Bielke-Rodenbiker is the Library Manager at the Minnesota Genealogical Society and will share what their focus is and resources available in their collection. Jenny McElroy is the Library Manager at the Minnesota Historical Society and she will share what is available in-person for research, as well as online through the MNHS website. Mollie Spillman is Director of Collections & Exhibitions at the Ramsey County Historical Society and will discuss the various collections that genealogy researchers can utilize.
