Are you 15 or older and looking for a great summer job or a challenging career? Lifeguarding puts you in an exciting position, working as part of a team to help people safely enjoy the water. Through classroom learning and hands-on practice, you'll learn: surveillance skills to help you recognize and prevent injuries, rescue skills - in the water and on land, first aid training and Professional Rescuer CPR - to help you prepare for any emergency.
PREREQUISITES:
- Must be 15 years old
- Swim 200 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing using front crawl, breaststroke or combination of both
- Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs
- Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds
This class will be taught as a blended learning class. In-person sessions are scheduled for Tuesday - Friday May 12, 13, 14, and 15 from 4-8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday May 16 and 17 from 9 am - 5 pm. The online portion of the blended learning must be completed prior to the in-person class on May 12. Once registered for the course you will receive instructions on how to access the online portion. Class times and days are subject to change depending on class size, availability and weather.
