Mark Your Calendars for a Special Tennessee America 250 Event!Join us as the library hosts a symbolic reenactment celebrating the launch of the Smoky Mountain Queen's Bicentennial Celebration, commemorating the historic riverboat journey from Sevier County to New Orleans! This incredible journey will be led by Johnny Waters, who paused his college studies to dedicate his efforts to the construction and operation of the handcrafted riverboat that undertook this voyage in honor of America's Bicentennial!
Following the symbolic launch of the riverboat, we invite you to the picnic area for Johnny's presentation of the journey to New Orleans. Enjoy an ice cream social hosted by Cruze Farms, and be captivated by Revolutionary War reenactors John Sevier and Isaac Shelby as they perform a dramatic dialogue about the Battle of King's Mountain!
This project is funded under an agreement with the State of Tennessee, administered by the Tennessee Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial.
