America 250 NC Traveling Exhibits at MUSE Winston-Salem: "When Are We US?" and "Making Our Voices Heard"
About this Event

MUSE Winston-Salem will host two traveling exhibits in their newly renovated building from March 18-March 30, with selected days and hours available for public viewing. The exhibits were created by America 250 NC, the state commission on the semiquincentennial of the United States of America.

“When Are We US?” is an eight-panel exhibit focused on the history of immigration, integration, fundamental rights, emancipation, and voting in North Carolina. "When Are We US?" is the question that helps us consider the roots of American democracy before 1776, and how the reverberations of American Independence continue to shape us today. “Making Our Voices Heard: North Carolinians Fighting for Civil Rights” is a ten-panel exhibit that tells the stories of seven everyday North Carolinians and extraordinary leaders who petitioned, protested, and organized to expand democracy.

MUSE Winston-Salem will present a program featuring a curated panel of community members reflecting on the question “When Are We US?” Panelists will consider what it means to be an American at the 250th anniversary of our founding and how the current moment impacts that. The program will also include time for a community conversation.
