About this Event
MUSE Winston-Salem invites you to “America 250: Gather & Reflect,” an interactive evening in the museum’s new home at 226 S. Liberty Street. As our community approaches a season of commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence, come experience two traveling exhibits on loan from America 250 NC and participate in a shared reflection and conversation about what the semiquincentennial means.
Before the program begins, come to the museum for an intentional viewing of “When Are We US? Becoming American” and “Making Our Voices Heard: North Carolinians Fighting for Civil Rights.” These two panel exhibits are aimed at helping North Carolinians engage with key questions that have reverberated through the American experiment for 250 years. The museum will open at 5:30 to allow plenty of time to view these exhibits and consider the prompts provided in the gallery for personal reflection.
In the interactive program to follow, beginning at 6:30, MUSEws staff will accent the exhibitions with additional local history and audience members will be invited to share questions and observations inspired by the exhibits. The evening will end with conversation and a final reflection.
Community members will also have one of the very first opportunities to step inside MUSE Winston-Salem’s newly renovated space and catch a glimpse of our community history museum in the making!
MUSE Winston-Salem will also have scheduled hours to view the exhibits for two weeks before the program. See below for dates, and check our website and social media for more details:
