Join the Museum of Work and Culture for a Stitch-A-Thon on Saturday, December 13th. This event is part of the ongoing efforts to bring RI’s panel across the state so that community members can contribute to its completion. The Stitch-A-Thon will feature guided instructions on basic stitching techniques and practice materials. Guests are asked to register for designated timeslots. This event is open to all skill levels and requires no prior embroidery experience.America’s Tapestry is composed of 13 individual hand-embroidered panels, one for each of the original 13 colonies. Each will tell the story of lesser-known, often overlooked contributions to our nation’s journey towards independence. Together, they honor the traditions, struggles, and triumphs that have shaped our nation. These panels represent the threads that, when woven together, form the rich tapestry of our nation’s history and identity. Upon completion, the panels will be joined together for a touring display, beginning at The College of William & Mary.
