Sarah Reilly is an entomologist who loves sharing her enthusiasm for the insect world. She is originally from Massachusetts, where she enjoyed showing her childhood bug collection to anyone who would look. She came to Virginia to attend the College of William and Mary, where she majored in Biology. She went on to earn a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Cornell University, focusing her research on the insect communities of cattail plants. With three young children, she and her family moved back to Virginia and settled in Powhatan. She spent the next phase of life homeschooling her kids and enjoying the outdoors. She joined the James River Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists, and has been an active volunteer doing education and outreach in the local community. She teaches insect education programs that raise awareness about insects and their importance to our world.
