About this Event
Alumni-Made Documentary Screening: Looking Back on How Climate Change Drowned Pakistan in 2022
- Time: Monday, 22 April, 14:00 - 15:30
- Location: Global Lounge, 1st Floor, Senate House, 24 Tyndall Avenue, Bristol (BS8 1TQ)
We are hosting a film screening of a short documentary directed by two University of Bristol alumni, Alex Mackay and Omar Beato. The film captures their experiences during their trip to a town in the Province of Sindh, a southeastern region of Pakistan when deadly floods devastated the country in the summer of 2022.
The documentary sheds light on the impact of the disaster on the region's livelihoods and the international support provided to the affected people. It's time to remind ourselves of the escalating global risks of the climate crisis and the urgent need for international climate action and policy advocacy.
Join us for the screening followed by a Q&A session with co-director Alex Mackay. The discussion will be moderated by Chandler Jeon, a Bristol geography graduate and former Delegate to the 17th UN Climate Change Conference of Youth.
This event is supported by the University of Bristol Students' Union (Bristol SU) and the Earth Justice Society of Bristol SU.
