Join Randy Miller for this deep dive on 18th century Alstead- its development and experiences with the American Revolution.
About this Event

Today I climbed the hill alone,

And stood beside the arch of stone.

The landscape smiled beneath the sun;

The strong wind waved the ripened corn.

The sunshine glorified the trees,

And roused to life the drowsy bees.

--Autumn in a New Hampshire Village by Arthur W. Anderson (1919)

You are invited to join Randy Miller in climbing this hill of history! With eighty beautiful slides, Randy will present a detailed look at the origins of Alstead -- a typical Cheshire County town -- in the 18th century. The town's journey from first settlement to thriving community will be illuminated, with a look at how circumstances shaped the town's response to the American Revolution, and some of the opposition to authority that led to revolt.

This program is generously sponsored by The Putnam Foundation and Fenton Family Dealerships.
