In September 2023, Larry Connor led a team of four U.S. Air Force Pararescue Specialists in setting a Guinness World Record for the highest HALO formation skydive at an astounding 38,139 feet. The Alpha 5 Project combined the challenge with a purpose, helping raise more than a million dollars for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which assists the familiies of fallen soldiers. Bring a thermos of your favorite morning coffee and join us June 22 from 7- 8 a.m. on the front lawn as the Alpha 5 balloon is inflated one final time before it is donated to the Museum's collection. (Federal endorsement of coffee is not implied...feel free to bring whatever beverage makes you happy in the morning!)
Visitors will also be able to meet the crew and learn more about their amazing accomplishment.
