Experience the sounds of Mongolia with Batzorig Vaanchig, internationally acclaimed throat singer and morin khuur master. Through powerful vocals, rich overtones and traditional instruments, he brings centuries-old Mongolian music to life. Part of his first European solo tour, this intimate concert at Ruigoord offers music, stories, Mongolian snacks, drinks, and a warm welcome with traditional milk tea.
Batzorig Vaanchig (1977) is one of the most respected and recognizable representatives of Mongolian throat singing and traditional music. A master of the morin khuur (horse-head fiddle), he is known for his powerful and pure style of khöömii (throat singing and overtone singing). He gained international recognition through viral videos on YouTube and social media, as well as performances at major festivals and prestigious venues worldwide. In addition to his solo work, he is a co-founder of the acclaimed Mongolian band Khusugtun, with whom he toured extensively across the world. In 2018, he received the Order of the Polar Star, Mongolia’s highest state honour, for his contribution to preserving and sharing Mongolian cultural heritage. With this tour, Batzorig presents his solo work in Europe for the first time.
Rowan Hartsuiker is a throat singer, musician, and cultural organizer with over 20 years of experience in Mongolian traditional music. Specialising in khöömii (throat singing), he has dedicated his work to studying, performing, and sharing the music and culture of Mongolia in Europe. As co-founder of Altai, Rowan, together with his wife Saran, creates immersive cultural experiences through concerts, workshops, and retreats, often working in close collaboration with Mongolian artists. Together with his wife they are the tour organizer and manager for Batzorig Vaanchig’s first European solo tour, supporting both the artistic and practical aspects of bringing Mongolian music to international audiences.German
German Popov is a musician-multi instrumentalist, composer, sound artist and researcher. Throughout all of his projects he works on establishing the lost contacts with sources and archetypes of modernity. Significant part of his research is dedicated to incorporating ethnographic and anthropological data into artistic activities. He has been involved in various musical and social events focused on the topic of Central Asia.
Taste Mongolia with authentic dishes and savory milk tea, lovingly prepared by Saran Myagmarsuren. Raised in the Mongolian countryside, Saran brings the flavors, rituals, and traditions of her homeland straight to Ruigoord.
