About this Event

Parents for Diversity marks the opening of its 10th anniversary year with Being an Effective Ally, a half‑day gathering focused on learning, dialogue, and community connection.

The program includes:

  • A panel conversation with P4D vice chair and board member Letitia Taylor and former board member Alison Kinahan
  • Interactive workshops led by Alison Kinahan and current board member Fatemeh Anvari
  • A keynote conversation with Tya Collins, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa
  • Lunch and a community market featuring local vendors

Light refreshments will be available in the morning.

This event is open to families, educators, community partners, volunteers, and anyone interested in strengthening inclusive educational spaces and community relationships.

Language: The event will be held in English.

Parking & Building Access: Free parking is available along the side and at the back of the building. In addition to the front entrance, side doors H, I, and J will be open. Doors E and F (ramp access) at the back of the building will also be open. On‑site signage will direct participants to the event location.

10:30–11:30 Workshops with Alison Kinahan and Fatemeh Anvari

11:40 Keynote with Tya Collins

12:00–1:30 Lunch and community market
