Allen Dennard presents Swing, Rhythm & Flow

On Saturday Dec. 13, composer, bandleader and one of Detroit’s most in-demand trumpeters, Allen Dennard takes the reins for the evening, presenting "Swing, Rhythm and Flow,” an evening designed to explore the deep ties between hip hop and jazz, threaded together with poetry and the spoken word.

Dennard is securely engrained in Detroit’s jazz scene appearing on stages alongside legends like Wendell Harrison, David McMurray and countless others. He’s equally fluent in Detroit hip hop, having worked with artists like Jessica Care Moore, Phat Kat, Elzhi and Dwele.

For Swing, Rhythm and Flow, Dennard invites a top tier ensemble composed of pianist Ian Fink, bassist Noah Jackson and drummer Travis Aukerman. They’ll be joined by a couple of the Motor City’s finest emcees in Ink and NOLAJ and their set will be bookended with DJ sets by DJ and producer Gulley.

We can’t wait to hear it come together! Doors will open at 8 with live music kicking off at 9.
