Allegra! Women’s Chorus sings "It is Happiness," a collection of three Mary Oliver poems set by Joan Szymko. The three poem choral suite - The Summer Day, Sunrise, and Wild Geese - evoke beauty, grace, and sense of home in a rapidly changing world. Other titles in the program express the same sentiment via poetry about creation and the act of creating. The music of Henry Purcell and Edvard Grieg to Shawn Kirchner and Dan Forrest are heard along side the texts of Alfred Lord Tennyson and Euan Tait. Allegra! will be conducted by Amy Morgan and accompanied by piano, flute, violin, and cello. It is sure to be a delightfully poignant and beautiful program.
