About this Event
Come Roll With Us! Join the City's Bike Education Street Team for a guided bike light parade through the beautiful streets and active pathways around the All Is Bright Festival. Bring your bike, ready to ride and decorated with lights! We’ll have a few small prizes for creatively lit bicycles!
This is a slow paced group ride with breaks. Riding 7.6 km, we’ll take you through Westmount, Inglewood and Wîhkwêntôwin on bike lanes, low traffic roads and shared pathways. The route is mostly flat with one short hill, which you’re welcome to walk down instead of riding if you like.
Participants are required to sign a Participant Release Form (waiver) in person before the ride and/or, where appropriate, sign as a legal guardian of a minor or dependants. Please come as early as 3:30 to sign the forms. All participants must wear a helmet, with the exception of those who wear a head covering for religious reasons that prevents helmet use.
The Guided Ride Along is not suited for people who would have difficulty riding 5 km. Winter cycling is more work than summer riding because of restrictive clothing and the possibility of pushing through snow. Kids under 12 years old would likely have a difficult time at this event.
The City of Edmonton is committed to improving streets with a goal to support 50 per cent of all trips to be made by active and sustainable modes of transportation. In support of this goal, this event is designed to:
- Create an opportunity for a fun winter ride together, and
- Increase riders’ ability, level of comfort and confidence to take more trips using bikes.
