Come see the latest, greatest work in this experimental theatre showcase of award-winning spoken word artists!
About this Event

Join All City Writers in their latest showcase, “Double Exposure", as we enter our second year together at The WAL Public Market on 1104 R Street!

Witness this experimental, award-winning group of performers as they explore mental health, ancestry, family, and love, through the creation of our one-person shows – it’s a unique glimpse into our stories-in-progress, and we would love for you to be part of the artistic adventure!

“I love how our different styles have all come together so beautifully,” founder AndYes (David Loret de Mola) said. “We put so much care into having each showcase be deep, yet nurturing.”

This diverse collective shatters artistic boundaries. On our cast of accomplished performers is two-time finalist of the College Union Poetry Slam Invitational (CUPSI) Nigerian-American poet Natachi Mez; Cuban-American spoken word champion of Sacramento AndYes, award-winning spoken word artist JRowe and Ms. Moxiebrain!

If you have been yearning for substance, this event is for you. Liminal States is not just an event; it’s a celebration of the power of storytelling. So mark your calendars, grab a friend, and get ready to embark on a literary adventure like no other. We can’t wait to see you there!

Meet the performers:

Natachi Mez is a Nigerian-American writer, performer, teaching artist, and emcee who is a two time finalist at the College Union Poetry Slam Invitational (CUPSI), a Cadence Video Poetry Artist in Residence, a Seventh Wave Magazine Featured Artist, and is a 2022 – 2023 Seeding Creativity grant recipient. She has featured at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Oberlin College, as well as at venues in Accra, Copenhagen, and Istanbul.

JRowe has traveled all over the country sharing stages with slam poetry legends like Buddy Wakefield and America’s Got Talent winner Brandon Leake and has been asked to perform at illustrious events like the Democratic National Convention. J Rowe’s work centers around the evolutions of love, identity, and humanity and often draws artistic inspiration from simplistic beauty such as nature and day-to-day interactions.

Ms. Moxiebrain is a Chicana writer hailing from Sacramento, California. She has been performing in the greater Sacramento region since she was 16. She utilizes poetry, storytelling, and hip hop to share her story. Her work focuses on issues regarding women, mental health, self-actualization, and more.

AndYes (David Loret de Mola) is a nonbinary, first-generation Cuban-American performer, and one of the top-50 spoken word artists in the world after competing in the Individual World Poetry Slam in 2019. They are also the founder of All City Writers, and also the Grand Slam Poetry Champion of Sacramento. They have previously worked alongside The City of Sacramento, the Crocker Art Museum, Loaves & Fishes, Planned Parenthood, the World Economic Forum, and The California Democratic Convention.
