About this Event
Alice Howe’s voice is a rare gift—clear, soulful, and undeniably captivating. Her singing carries a timeless beauty that transports listeners back to the golden era of folk and Americana. She captures the true essence of roots music—honest, pure, and deeply emotional.
Alice recorded her most recent album at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals. Alice knew that recording there meant standing on sacred musical ground. Surrounded by the ghosts of legends like Aretha Franklin and Etta James, she felt the pressure to dig deeper into her artistry. And she delivered. That album, Circumstance, channels that rich history with a powerful mix of southern rock, folk, blues, and classic soul, all led by the sheer beauty of her voice. It also showcases her introspective songwriting, blending Americana, blues, folk, and rock with a timeless quality. Alice’s songs pull no punches as she reflects on love, loss, and self-discovery, creating a personal journey through music.
Joining her is the legendary Freebo, a true folk-rock-blues icon. Freebo first gained national attention as Bonnie Raitt’s bass player, a role he held for a decade starting in 1971. Freebo's bass lines helped define a generation of folk-rock and can be heard on countless classic recordings. He has toured with legendary artists like John Mayall, CSN, Maria Muldaur, Ringo Starr, Dr. John, Neil Young, and many more. Freebo is also a gifted and distinctive singer/songwriter. His songs are compassionate takes on life, love and what we hope to leave behind when our journey is over.
Beyond the studio, Freebo has appeared on shows like Saturday Night Live and Midnight Special, The Muppet Show and even performed with Spinal Tap.
Don’t miss this unique duo as they bring their rich, collaborative sound to Caffé Lena for an unforgettable night of music.
