New CLan Arts - BA Musical TheatreDuncan Sheik and Steven Sater’s vibrant musical follow-up to their multi-award-winning Spring Awakening, Alice by Heart takes us to a wartime shelter, whose mostly teenage residents have been rendered homeless and almost certainly orphaned by enemy bombing. The Alice of the title is obsessed with the world of her Lewis Carroll namesake and when she is told that her dearest friend is mortally ill, she looks for an answer in Wonderland. Underpinned by a sense of learning to deal with loss, while confusedly emerging from childhood , the energy of the songs rings with positivity.
