During the silent film era (1890 -1930) - a cinema pianist was expected to improvise music to accompany the film. Tonight, in keeping with silent cinema traditions, Matthew Shiel will provide a film score to Charlie Chaplin's "Police" (1916) and "A Trip to the Moon" (1902). "A Trip to the Moon" is the first science fiction film ever made and one of the most influential films in cinema history.
