The Ensemble Company, the repertory theatre company in residence at Imagine Performing Arts Center, continues its eighth season with Alexis Scheer’s acclaimed play, OUR DEAR DEAD DRUG LORD.High above Miami in a cluttered treehouse in 2008 amidst the presidential election of Barack Obama and John McCain, four teenage girls are plotting something wild: a séance to summon Pablo Escobar. What starts as a game of guts and giggles spirals into a sharp, unpredictable clash of friendship, power, and dark imagination. Part occult ritual, part rollercoaster through the thrills and terrors of growing up. OUR DEAR DEAD DRUG LORD is a wickedly funny, unsettling ride you won’t see coming.
OUR DEAR DEAD DRUG LORD was developed and originally staged by Off the Grid in Boston, 2018, followed by a world premiere production Off-Broadway by the WP Theatre and Second Stage Theatre in 2019, directed by Whitney White.
The Ensemble Company’s production will be directed by producing artistic director Matthew MacDermid (THE THANKSGIVING PLAY, FROZEN, THE OTHER PLACE) and stars Maddy Poston, who previously won acclaim as Cassidy in The Ensemble Company’s 2024 production of APPROPRIATE, as Zoom. Making their Ensemble Company debuts are Sarah Bathelemy as Squeeze, Ana Gomez-Lugo as Pipe, and Loudise Ortiz-Hernandez as Kit. Jessica Hamilton serves as production stage manager.
OUR DEAR DEAD DRUG LORD will run March 6-15, 2026 in the Barbara Lynn Johnson Theatre at Imagine Performing Arts Center (1220 Oviedo Mall Boulevard, Oviedo, FL 32765), with performances on Friday and Saturday at 8:00pm, Sundays at 2:00pm, and a special industry night performance on Monday, March 9th at 8:00pm.
