Canadian country-pop artist Alex Hughes hits the legendary King Eddy stage for her 'Take Me Home' EP Release Party on June 12.About Alex Hughes:
Country-pop artist Alex Hughes pairs soaring vocals with emotionally grounded storytelling, quickly building momentum as one of Canada’s most compelling emerging voices in the genre. Based in Calgary, Alberta, she has earned more than 350,000 global streams and built a reputation for captivating live performances and a fresh, genre-blending sound.
Alex’s songs move through coming-of-age moments, breakups, reconciliations, and bold declarations of self-assurance. Her latest single, ‘Take Me Home,’ serves as the title track of her forthcoming sophomore EP. Produced by acclaimed hitmaker Dan Swinimer (Madeline Merlo, Jojo Mason), the track channels the romantic, timeless, radio-ready country sound of the ’90s while delivering polished, contemporary production. Anchored by warm melodies and a dynamic vocal performance, ‘Take Me Home’ captures the turning point when casual feelings deepen into something real.
"‘Take Me Home' is about that quiet shift when feelings get real and you start wanting to know someone on a deeper level," says Alex. "From the first writing session with Aaron Pollock, Lydia Sutherland, and Forrest Finn, this song felt honest and special. It has the warmth and emotion of the country love songs I grew up loving, but it still feels modern, confident, and very true to me."
The Take Me Home EP features songs written or co-written with Nashville heavy hitters, including Jason Blaine; Jason Saenz (Little Big Town, Scotty McCreery, Lee Ann Womack); Madeline Merlo; and Todd Clark (Phillip Phillips, Gavin DeGraw, Jade Eagleson). Blending sassy breakup anthems, nostalgic country ballads, and hook-driven pop-country singalongs, the EP showcases the full spectrum of Alex’s artistry.
"I’m so excited about this collection of songs because it captures so many different sides of who I am as a songwriter and artist," says Alex. "I’ve never felt more proud of my music, and I can’t wait to share this next chapter with my fans."
With South Asian and Filipino roots, Alex grew up immersed in a wide range of musical styles—from Bollywood and Hawaiian melodies to pop, hip-hop, and R&B—alongside strong, powerful female voices like LeAnn Rimes, Faith Hill, and Patsy Cline.
Her career highlights include sharing stages with Brothers Osborne, Ashley McBryde, Josh Ross, and Babyface, and performing at iconic venues such as the House of Blues, Tootsies Orchid Lounge, and Nashville North at the Calgary Stampede. A 2022 finalist in Project WILD, she is currently nominated for the 2026 Country Music Alberta Awards for Horizon Female Artist of the Year and Fans’ Choice, solidifying her status as one of Canada’s most exciting emerging country-pop voices.
