ALBERTA: Calgary Electrofishing Certification Course

Registration is open to complete the self-paced online learning and written theory exam followed by in-person in-stream evaluation and certification on May 9th 2026. Our expert instructors will guide you through the fascinating world of electrofishing techniques and safety protocols.

Additional details:
Students must complete the self-paced training before attending the in-field session. The online section covers but is not limited to electrical theory, electrofishing theory, design & equipment, safety, sampling methods, and ethical concerns.
A Letter of Completion will be provided to prove certification upon completing the course requirements.
Requirements: A pass of 70% is required on the written exam. Participants must also independently obtain their Standard First Aid and CPR Certification before taking the in-stream section. Participants must provide their own personal field gear including non-leaking and non-breathable chest waders with appropriate boots (required), brimmed hat, and polarized sunglasses (recommended).
Where: Online learning and theory exam are completed online. The location of the in-stream certification will be at Nose Creek Wetlands Park, immediately west of CrossIron Mills Mall. Parking is available in the west side of the CrossIron Mills parking lot.

In-Stream evaluation: – May 9th 2026 (AM Only)
