In this traditional Bharatanatyam Margam, Navyashree traces a deeply felt journey of devotion, longing and divine love through compositions on Lord Muruga.
Devotion, longing and divine love come together in this evocative Bharatanatyam Margam dedicated to Lord Muruga, son of Shiva and Parvati, bearer of the sacred Vel and the supreme warrior. Conceived as both a devotional offering and an inward journey, the performance traces the soul’s yearning for union with the divine, moving through the emotional landscapes of Bhakti, Sringara, Viraha, Ninda and Ananda through carefully selected compositions.
Brought to life by Bharatanatyam artiste Navyashree, founder of Bharathadyuthi Arts Centre, the work reflects a deep engagement with tradition shaped under the guidance of Guru Sri P. Praveen Kumar. His choreography and nattuvangam are complemented by a live ensemble of eminent musicians, creating a richly layered musical and visual experience.
A recipient of the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) scholarship, a Doordarshan graded artist, and a recipient of the Kalashree award and the Dr. Sunil Kothari Award for Emerging Artists, Navyashree brings both technical rigour and expressive depth to the stage, shaped by performances across India and internationally.
Through movement and music, the evening unfolds as a meditative journey, revealing the enduring beauty of the dance form that holds devotion, storytelling and emotion in perfect balance.
This performance is supported by Reliance Foundation.
