The Alan Reullier Art Car Unveil at Escapade Silverstone
We invite you to come to Escapade Silverstone on Sunday 3rd May 2026 to see Alan Reullier's art car first public display.
International multimedia artist Alan Reullier will unveil Gertrude 1, a striking classic MGB art car at Escapade Silverstone on Sunday 3rd May 2026, presenting a bold new interpretation of English automotive heritage through contemporary art.
Created on the iconic MG marque, GERTRUDE 1 transforms a symbol of mid-century British engineering into a sculptural contemporary artwork. Reullier reimagines it as a material led composition, layering industrial processes, texture and visual intervention to create a piece that sits between object, artwork and cultural artefact.
Known for his passion of repurposing discarded industrial materials, Reullier's work explores themes of sustainability, memory and the evolving relationship between function and form. With GERTRUDE 1, he brings these ideas into direct dialogue with one of Britain's most recognisable automotive icons.
"This is not about restoring a car" says Reullier, "it's about celebrating its history and giving it a second life as an artwork"
The unveiling at Silverstone, one of the most historic venues in British motorsport, positions GERTRUDE 1 within a broader cultural narrative, where engineering heritage is revisited through contemporary creative practice. The project marks the beginning of a wider UK rollout, with the vehicle set to appear across the UK in exhibitions, cultural events and collaborative platforms throughout 2026.
By bridging the worlds of art, design and automotive history, GERTRUDE 1 signals a new direction in how we experience and reinterpret iconic objects, shifting them from functional artefacts into expressive, collectable works.
