Join us on May 9th and 10th, 2026, from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm for: The AKC Scent Trials! 🐾Join us and our partner, Albany Obedience Club, as we host the AKC Scent Trials at the Museum. Many different breeds of dogs will be competing with their owners during this event. The dogs will be testing their ability to find designated scents inside and outside of the Museum building.
This event is included with regular admission and is free to Museum members. Reservations are not required for this event.
PLEASE NOTE: ONLY CANINES REGISTERED FOR THIS EVENT WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE GROUNDS. Additionally, some galleries will be closed to accommodate these trials, but children’s activities, like discovery trucks and the Discovery Room will be open. The Museum will be open to the public, and visitors can watch portions of the trials for free with their paid admission. If you are a dog lover, this is certainly a rare treat, but if you are not canine inclined, or if you have children that are fearful of dogs, this is not a good weekend for you to visit the Museum. Thank you for your understanding, as we support emergency services with these trials.
Thanks to the Albany Obedience Club for partnering with us to present this program. Learn more about them at: https://www.facebook.com/AlbanyObedienceClub
Operating support for the Museum is provided, in part, by: The Firefighters Association of the State of New York (FASNY) and the FASNY Foundation
