Join us for an elegant afternoon as we celebrate the remarkable journey of the AKATeens of Detroit.
This year carries special significance as we mark 45 years of dedicated service, mentoring, and empowerment for young women from the City of Detroit and the Metropolitan Detroit Area.
As our program year concludes, we invite family, friends, and community supporters to gather in honor of these exceptional young leaders. This "Simply Sophisticated" celebration is a tribute to a season of academic dedication, personal growth, and the successful completion of our leadership mentoring program.
Honoring a Legacy of Leadership
For four and a half decades, the AKATeens Leadership Organization has provided a nurturing environment for young ladies in grades nine through twelve. We take pride in helping our members build confidence, character, and self-esteem as they explore the pillars of our program:
- Leadership & Ethics: Developing strong character and decision-making skills.
- Life Skills & Financial Literacy: Preparing for independence and financial responsibility.
- Health & Citizenship: Promoting wellness and active engagement in our democracy.
- Community Service: Instilling the value of giving back to the Detroit community.
- College Readiness: Navigating financial aid and scholarship opportunities for future success.
This event serves as the crowning moment for our Teens, marking their successful navigation of our leadership mentoring program. We are coming together to:
- Salute Our Graduates: A formal recognition of our seniors as they transition from high school to their next academic and professional pursuits.
- Commemorate Achievements: Honoring the hard work and discipline required to complete this year’s leadership curriculum.
- Celebrate 45 Years: Reflecting on the long-standing impact the AKATeens Leadership Organization has had since our founding.
