AKAMAS TRAIL RUNNING FESTIVAL – JUNE 7-9Join us over the June 7-9 long weekend for an enjoyable festival of trail running in the beautiful Akamas Peninsula.
During the three days we will be running over the most picturesque trails in this stunning part of the island. We will also offer various other activities such as a ‘naked’ run (no watches), a vertical challenge, and trail ‘games’.
Runners can join for one, two, or all three days. The idea is to have a great time with fellow runners in a special part of the world that is under threat of development.
Runs will start and finish at the Aphrodite Family Eco campsite, where we will be based for the weekend.
We ask for donations of 10 euros per person per day to cover the cost of getting supplies to aid stations along the route and providing a picnic lunch after each run.
Runners staying over need to make their own accommodation arrangements and see to their breakfasts and dinners. Barbecue facilities are available at the Eco campsite.
Note that these are social runs, NOT races. The trails won’t be marked out but we will provide GPX files of the routes.
Closer to the time we will ask runners to indicate which days they plan to join us so we can organise supplies.
For now, please tick ‘going’ or ‘interested’ so we can get an early idea of numbers.
Tentative Programme:
Saturday June 7
From 0900 – Meet at the Eco camp to register for the day’s run.
1000 – Set off on a 21 km route (shorter options also possible).
1400 – Picnic lunch at Eco camp
1500 – Beach time!
1830 – BBQ for those who wish to join us. Please bring your own edibles/drinkables
Sunday, June 8
From 0600 – Meet at the Eco camp to register for the day’s run.
0700 – Set off on a 35 km route (25 km and shorter options also possible)
1400 – Picnic lunch
1530 – Boat ride to Blue Lagoon (Depending on demand. Cost is extra -- tbd)
1830 – BBQ for those who wish to join us. Please bring your own edibles/drinkables
Monday, June 9
0900 – Various activities including a vertical challenge, a ‘naked’ run, and trail running tips.
1300 – Picnic lunch
1400 – Goodbyes and farewells
